The Economic Development committee will have its regular monthly meeting on Friday, February 6 at 6:30pm at 1100 Wilshire. Notable items on the agenda include:

  • Discussion on success of Edwardian Ball at Tower Theater and how to encourage similar events.
  • DIscussion on condo sales and leasing of residential units and what is needed to encourage people to move Downtown.
  • Set up working group to develop a survey on what amenities are needed Downtown.
  • Possible action on DLANC involvement in the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy program.

  • Discussion and possible action on ways to allow MOCA (the Museum of Contemporary Art) to stay and expand on Grand Avenue and to encourage the Getty to house its photography collection near-by.
  • Possible action on┬áDLANC’s involvement in the CEDS (Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy) program.

  • Possible action on donated space offer for display of Los Angeles history materials and the digitalizing [sic] of the materials.
  • Presentation and possible action on 25 Projects For Downtown project; working with the community to create 25 projects that can help develop the economy of Downtown; and 25 projects that can create street and nightlife and build a sense of community in Downtown.

  • Discussion of committee budget request for next year
  • Discussion of additional culture night
  • Update on Jobs and Economic Development task force

The Economic Development committee will be having its regular monthly meeting at 1100 Wilshire on Tuesday, June 24 at 6:30pm. Special items on the agenda include:

  • Update on status of RFP for Police Headquarters restaurant space.
  • Motion to support a Broadway walk. Motion of support to allocate $2,500 towards insurance, permitting and other infrastructure requirements for community events support.
  • Discussion and possible motion on supporting cultural tourism by including an arts education component with the new Grand Avenue Park
  • Discussion on how to best work with Mayor’s Jobs committee on issues facing Downtown.
  • Motion asking the CRA to work with the NC on developing guidelines on uses for the Crown Coach Site.

As mentioned earlier, the Party Planning Economic Development committee will be having its meeting on Tuesday, April 29, at 6:30pm in the 3rd floor media room at 1100 Wilshire. Special items on the agenda include:

  • Review last mixer and plan next mixers.
  • Plan a technology/entertainment, technology/education mixer or conference.
  • Discussion and possible action on recommending a cultural education and cultural tourism component for the Grand Avenue Park.
  • Discussion and possible action on recommending residential, live/work and mixed uses along the Downtown side of the Los Angeles river as opposed to industrial uses.

The monthly meeting of the Party Planning Economic Development committee has been rescheduled for April 29, instead of its usual date and time. We’ll post the agenda once it is published.

This month’s downtown community mixer put on by the Party Planning Economic Development committee will be on Thursday, April 17, from 6:30pm at J. Lounge (1129 S. Olive). There will be hosted appetizers from 6:30-7:30pm, and drink specials from 6:30-9:30pm. RSVP is requested to thelamix@gmail.com.
