The Board of Directors will have its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 11 at 6:30pm at the Los Angeles Theatre (615 S. Broadway). Special items on the agenda include:

  • Presentation on the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Downtown LA August 2009
  • Update on plans for the DLANC office.
  • Presentation on the LA Live / Grammy Museum Grand Opening in December 2008.
  • Presentation by the Sustainability Committee Report about a letter of support for their SDAT application. The grant will bring a team of professionals together to assist in the development of a community greening strategy.
  • Presentation by Hal Bastian about the Downtown LA’s Most Wanted Survey.
  • Update on the Downtown Filming Special Conditions.

The Board of Directors will have its usual monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 14 at 6:30pm at the Los Angeles Theatre (6th and Broadway). Notable items on the agenda include:

  • Presentation by Jeremy Bieier on a community beautification grant partnership and other civic and volunteer opportunities. (Maybe — the agenda is pretty incomprehensible. Verbs and articles cost extra, I guess.)
  • Presentation by Christine Marge on the United Way Homewalk.
  • Presentation by the Department of Recreation & Parks on Gladys Park renovation.
  • The Planning & Land Use committee recommends that DLANC write a letter of support for the proposed renewal of the CUX permit for Club Fantasy hostess club at 307 West 4th Street.

The Economic Development committee will have its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 23 at 6:30pm at 1100 Wilshire. Special items on the agenda include:

  • Planning the second Art Walk which will be the multi-disciplinary Third Thursday Downtown event including Comedy Walk.
  • Presentation and possible action on DLANCs involvement in the CEDS (Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy) program.
  • Possible action on donated space offer for display of Los Angeles history materials and the digitalizing [sic] of the materials.
  • Presentation and possible action on 25 Projects For Downtown project; working with the community to create 25 projects that can help develop the economy of Downtown; and 25 projects that can create street and nightlife and build a sense of community in Downtown.

The Education committee will have its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 10 at 6:30pm in the lobby of the Security Building (510 S. Spring). There is nothing particularly special on the agenda, just updates on the ongoing projects and discussion of upcoming ones. Read the full agenda….

The Executive committee will be having another meeting on Wednesday, August 6 at 8pm at Angelus Plaza (255 S. Hill) in Conference Room 312. Special items on the agenda include:

  • Continued discussion of 2008-2010 priorities and budgets.
  • Committee assignments
  • Fall master calendar/strategic planning workshop

The Outreach & Communications Committee will meet on Tuesday, August 5th at 6pm before the National Night Out on 1st Street in Little Tokyo. (Yeah, that’s outside the DLANC boundaries, and therefore the meeting skirts the edges of the Brown Act. What else is new?)

No agenda has been released, except that this first meeting will be about organization and you are to bring your ideas for projects.

The new Board of Directors is kicking off things with a bang, and more ammunition for Stanley’s grievance, with the agenda just released for the meeting on Tuesday, July 22 at 6:30pm at the Los Angeles Theatre. Special items on the agenda include:

  • Election of new board officers
  • Presentation on National Night Out
  • Motions of support from the Arts committee that were never on the agenda of an Arts committee meeting
  • Discussion about relocating the DLANC office
