There is apparently no agenda, but the Affordable Housing ad-hoc committee will be meeting tonight, June 17, at 6:30pm in the Project 50 offices at 108 E. 5th St.
A group of interested stakeholders is trying to re-start the Affordable Housing committee, and will be meeting at the DLANC Outreach Office (450 S. Main) on Wednesday, May 21 at 6:30pm to kick things off.
David Robinson has announced that he will be stepping down as a board member, as well as resigning as chair of the Affordable Housing and Education ad-hoc committees. His letter to the Affordable Housing committee:
I am writing to inform you that after careful and difficult consideration, I have concluded that changes in my work and personal life make it impossible for me to continue to fulfill my duties as a DLANC Board member. I will therefore be resigning my chairmanship of the Ad Hoc Education Committee and the Ad Hoc Affordable Housing Committee.
As for the monthly Board meetings: My alternate, Tobi Dragert, will be taking over the role of Bunker Hill representative to DLANC for the remainder of my term. I will be her alternate.
I am sorry that we did not manage to get the Affordable Housing Committee functioning more than sporadically over the past half year. I remain convinced that a consistent focus on affordable housing policy should be a central area of concentration for DLANC.
Perhaps this Wednesday’s PLUC meeting, focused on a variety of policy issues, will prove a step in that direction.
In any case, I appreciate your concern for affordable housing and homeless issues in Downtown LA, and look forward to crossing paths with you again.
As David writes, Tobi Dragert, his alternate, will replace him on the DLANC board. Lesley Taplin has also stepped down from the Education committee, and Don Garza has volunteered to lead that committee. Nobody has stepped up to lead the Affordable Housing committee.
The ad-hoc Affordable Housing committee will be meeting at the DLANC Outreach office (450 S. Main) on Tuesday, December 11 at 6:30pm. Special items on the agenda include:
- Presentation on Project 50 (a collaboration between LA County, Common Ground, and Skid Row Housing Trust).
- Brief report on the City’s Housing Element Update.
The regular monthly meeting of the Affordable Housing Ad-Hoc committee, which would normally occur today, has been postponed until next Tuesday, December 11. An agenda should be available as soon as tomorrow.
Reports are that the Board of Directors meeting will be moving to next Wednesday, which is why the Affordable Housing committee will be able to meet next Tuesday, which would be the usual Board of Directors meeting day.
