As of the most recent published version of the list of qualified candidates, the following seats currently have no candidates:
- Resident: Fashion District, Area-wide Resident Artist, Area-wide Homeless
- Business: Alameda East, City West, Fashion District, Historic Downtown, South Park (so much for all those mixers)
- Social Services Provider: there are only two candidates for three seats
- Arts, Cultural, and Educational Interests: there are no candidates for the three seats
Once the candidate registrations have closed, I’ll run the candidate statements here, as well as any statements from candidates who didn’t submit one using the official (but optional) form.

I too was disappointed to see no one from City West on the candidates list. Maybe that will change as 5 p.m. gets closer.

I just spoke with the City Clerk’s office about candidate filing submissions; the woman in the office said that their fax machine is exploding with people sending in their paperwork. I had asked about the Arts, Culture, Education position specifically, she said that there were two or three submissions. Perhaps more will be rolling in for other DLANC board positions as well.

Perhaps there would be more folks seeking election in City West IF the boundaries weren’t so oddly configured…
I was hoping to run for Business Director (City West) BUT the City Clerk’s Office says LA Downtown News is NOT within the City West boundaries! Grrrr
Best of luck to all the candidates…Go Downtown(ers)!!
